Meet Our Founder
Sikelelwa Sikwana (/See-keh-lel-wa/ — isiXhosa, meaning “Be Blessed”)
Born in the Eastern Cape, South Africa, under challenging circumstances, Sikelelwa learned the value of resilience from an early age. She began working while still young and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in architecture from the University of the Witwatersrand. Her journey later took her across the globe, first as a Marketing Coordinator for a U.S.-based business, where she formed a lifelong mentorship with industry leader Molly McGrath, and later as a Flight Attendant in the Middle East, traveling the world and experiencing diverse cultures.
Returning home to South Africa, Sikelelwa faced unemployment — an experience that ignited her mission to confront the crisis of youth unemployment head-on. Out of this challenge, Counsel & Co. was born: a purpose-driven marketing agency designed not only to deliver excellence to its clients but also to equip young South Africans with future-ready skills that open doors to meaningful work.
Today, while leading Counsel & Co., Sikelelwa is also completing her MBA, which she plans to leverage to expand opportunities for young people across Africa. Her vision is clear: to create pathways where talent meets opportunity, and where young people can build purposeful, empowered lives.
